Genting Hotel, Genting Highland

Genting Hotel (N3°25.401' E101°47.528')
Genting Hotel
was built in 1978 as the second hotel in Genting Highlands Resort after the first hotel, Theme Park Hotel, which was built in 1971, to cope with the immense volume of people because of the relocation of two casinos which was initially located inside Theme Park Hotel.

Along with Resort Hotel and Highlands Hotel, it houses Casino de Genting, one of the main casinos at Genting Highlands Resort along with the Starworld casino in First World Hotel.It has a big Genting logo at its stop standing at the height of 6,000 feet above sea level facing Kuala Lumpur, Ulu Kali and lake side (outdoor theme park). From the top view, it forms the Y shape, having three long corridors.

At its top most floor, houses the Maxim Club, a 6-star hotel for the upper class people going to Genting Highlands. Sources from Wiki.

As the second hotel of Genting Highland, you notice the roof was really old...

After our dinner at the Mushroom Farm, we went back to Genting Hotel for a walk...

Dinner at Mushroom Farm Restaurant, Genting Highland

It's only took 5 minutes for the Genting Hotel Lobby to Mushroom Farm Restaurant (N3°25.201' E101°47.848'). It's a nice place and after you pass through this path, the environment was warm enough for you to enjoy your dinner.

As you can see the signage of Mushroom Farm Restaurant is on the right.

It's FULL when we reached...(about 7.30pm)

Took us about 5 minutes to find a table. Quickly take the orders and waiting impatiently because all of us are hungry! (You will digest faster in the cold area, because your body burns more compare with a normal temperature)

Our order for the night :-
* The Steam Chicken
* Omelette
* Fried Squid
* Vegetables
* Thai Style Fried Tau-fu
* Claypot Pork Leg

The Chicken was VERY NICE!! (Excellent!!)

The omelette (normal...)

The Deep Fried Squid (normal...)

Thai Style Fried Tau-Fu (Good)

Claypot Pork Leg (Good)

The damage was : MYR180.00 for 9 adults and 2 children (Include drinks).
The prices was reasonable...

I rated : 3.5/5

An Evening at Genting Highland - Day 1

After check-in to the hotel, we had a walk around Genting Highland. We started from The Theme Park Hotel to Genting Hotel. (The time was about 6.00pm)

Along the way, I noticed this 'Dotto Train', which it bring you the joy ride around the Resort.

The operation hours : 10.00am to 7.00pm (Every 1/2 hour)
The rates :
* MYR3.00 per trip (From Outdoor Theme Park Main Entrance to Genting Hotel Lobby)
* MYR5.00 per trip (From Genting Hotel Lobby to First World Hotel Lobby & Outdoor Theme Park Main Entrance)

We found this small temple along the way, I believe many gamblers will pray here....

Opposite the temple, there's road towards Resort Hotel, Genting Hotel & Highland Hotel. And the small blue greeting board in the middle said : "Merry Christmas" in Chinese. (There are many tourists and gamblers from China visit Genting Resort every year.)

I really LOVE this Parking information which show at the main entrance of the Resort. It helps a lot for those who drive and looking for parking bay.

After that, we walked into the building that leads us to Genting Hotel Lobby...
As you will depends on this signage very much! Unless you are familiar with the paths within the buildings.

Very sweet smile from this pretty promoter....

Merry Christmas to you!

One of the entrance to the Casino.
And we were waiting for the Shuttle Van from Mushroom Farm at the lobby of Genting Hotel, for our dinner....

Theme Park Hotel, Genting

Theme Park Hotel, Genting. (N3°25.319' E101°47.606')

We reached the hotel around 3pm. It's took us around 45 minutes from Jalan Ipoh to Genting Highland. The journey was smooth and without any traffic jam....

The First World Hotel at the back.

It's so lucky that we found a parking lot at the Theme Park Hotel Carpark (N3°25.310' E101°47.606'). Check-in with a friendly staff from the lobby reception. The room rate was MYR235.00 (included tax) for one queen bed and one single bed. (It was peak season because of the school holiday)

The room is spacious and equipped with bathtub.

This is the only comment I have, look at the dirt sign on the mosaic.

After resting a while in the hotel, we started to explore around....

The walkway to the parking area.

The Lobby. Marrybrown is situated at the main entrance.

The Christmas atmosphere was good! Christmas carols are in every corner....

The Santa Claus

The Bear Band

The hotel basically was ok for us. It's close to the Outdoor Theme Park Entrance, just next to the hotel. We just wanna bring our daughther to have some fun over here...
The Resort Hotel just opposite and the First World Hotel just few step away...It was convenience to move around.

The History of Theme Park Hotel :

Theme Park Hotel is the first hotel to be built at Genting Highlands Resort at its early development in 1971. Initially, Theme Park Hotel was called Highlands Hotel, but it was renamed later on.

The hotel was initially planned on March 31 1969 by the founder of Genting Berhad, Lim Goh Tong from Fujian, China who migrated to Malaysia in his early age. Looking at his great effort, Malaysia's first prime minister, Tunku Abdul Rahman was touched and gave him the one and only license to operate casino in Malaysia on April 28 1969.

Theme Park Hotel is located exactly at the main entrance to Genting outdoor theme park. It has two restaurants at its ground floor, which are Happy Valley restaurant and Penang Food Village restaurant.

To accommodate its increasing guests, not long after its development, Resorts World Bhd add more rooms called Valley Wing, attached to the main hotel building.

PIKOM PC Fair 19th-21th December 2008, Johor Bahru

The event was held at Persada Johor (Johor International Convention Center).
I visited the Fair on Saturday (20th Dec). The area was really packed of peoples because there was another event (Motor Show 2008) running at the same time. It's took me almost 45 minutes to get a parking lot which is 500 meter away from Persada Johor. Both site of the road was full of cars parking along and it's make the traffic worst at that time! But, that's the atmosphere everyone Love to see....crowded!

It's a good bargain and also it's a price war everytime. Peoples willing to hold their money and spend it during the PC Fair, me too! But when I step in to the hall, I know I cannot do my shopping as normal. There were thousand of visitors squeeze inside the hall like in a sardine can! Haha!

I manage to meet my friend and told him the items I need, then just walk around for 10 minutes and escape from the crowded place....

The prices I remember :-

1) 2GB Thumb Drive - MYR15.00
2) 4GB Thumb Drive - MYR23.00
3) 160GB Hard Disk Drive - MYR165.00
4) 3G USB Modem - MYR380.00
5) Canon Mono Laser Printer - MYR199.00
6) Garmin Nuvi 200W - MYR899.00
7) China made Garmin imitation - MYR499.00 (Running on Garmin Mobile XT)

I noticed all the major brands Sub-notebook computers were display everywhere in the hall. And beside the main hall, there were war between the 3G and Wireless Broadband Telco....Celcom, Maxis & P1.

After the fair, I walked down the Lower Ground floor for the Motor Show 2008. But it was actually a Motor Sales, not show! Disappointed! Proton, Hyundai, Toyota....promoting their car.....

Take a break at the coffee shop opposite Persada Johor, then....back home.

* Sorry for no photos taken, because there are nothing new....

Dim Sum Restaurant along Jalan Ipoh, Kuala Lumpur

After 2 days in Kuala Lumpur, it's about time for us to leave and continue our journey to Genting Highland.

We had a breakfast along Jalan Ipoh before we leave. The Restaurant named Tin Hoe Hweeh Restaurant (N3°10.884' E101°40.933'), located along Jalan Ipoh and opposite Public Bank - Jln Ipoh. Basically is the Dim Sum Restaurant. Lau said it is one of the best along Jalan Ipoh.

It's located at the junction of Jalan Ipoh & Jalan Merak. It's just opposite Public Bank - Jln Ipoh.

The environment of the Restaurant.

We ordered some of it, and they were really delicious! Especially the Fried Carrot Cake from the same restaurant, it's really nice!

The Skyline of Jalan Ipoh, Kuala Lumpur

It's a peaceful second night at Kuala Lumpur. After our dinner at Damansara Village, we went back to the Condo and rest.

I just like to share some photos I took in the morning...

To the South Direction

I was standing at the balcony of 18th floor, and I can't resist to took out my camera to capture the beautiful scene over the Jalan Ipoh of Kuala Lumpur.

The beautiful Batu Cave was on my South west direction.....

Honestly I haven't put my step on the Batu Cave, definitely will do it one day...

There's army camp on my left (West)

I'm satisfied with the 'Zoom' of my camera...

I believe there's LRT Station under construction between the Army Camp & Jalan Ipoh

With the beer in hand, laying down at the balcony...admiring the Marvelous night view over the Jalan Ipoh of Kuala Lumpur.

Night view of Jalan Ipoh. Shooting from the same location with the first photo above...

I was trying to play the Shutter Speed on my camera....
Then I captured this scene...where the cars disappear from the photo but the lights remain...

Wish you have a Sweet dream to night!
