Taiwan Day 1 Kaohsiung : Dream Mall + Liu He Night Market

Took the midnight flight to Taiwan by Scoot. Thought I could sleep during the flight and by the time I wake up, I already at Taiwan already. I was wrong. I could not sleep the whole night although I booked the last row where I could extend my seat all the way to the back. So, no no midnight flight for me again.

From Taoyuan airport to Taoyuan HSR station

Shuttle services
Ticket price: full fare NT$30
Tickets are sold at Taoyuan Airport: UBUS service counters at Arrivals Lobby of Terminals 1 and 2.

From Taoyuan HSR station to Zuoying Station (Kaohsiung)

Our first stop was Kaohsiung so we took HSR to Zuoying station. Fastest but most expensive way. We had already bought the HSR tickets online before the trip to save the trouble of queuing up. The whole journey took around 1hr40min. I love their 7-11 stores where they have this "guan dong zhu" (关东煮) , similar to SG's yong tau fu (酿豆腐) . Best is can buy and eat in HSR!

Hotel : Migo Hostel (I really recommend)

Located near Sanduo shopping district station. Exit 2 and walk for around 8 to 10 min walking distance from the station and shopping malls. Came across this hostel on Agoda and I was very amazed to know that it has many theme rooms. Mine was a very cosy family room and even had a swing at the balcony!

Quad room with a sea view for 3D2N for slightly less than SGD200! It has a very amazing sea view too! It has 1 balcony, 2 bedrooms and 1 living room. Shiok or what?

After settled down, we headed to the largest shopping mall in Taiwan - Dream Mall 夢時代購物中心.
Stop at Kaisyuan station and there is a shuttle bus (接驳车) just outside the station to Dream Mall.

Check out this most beautiful and spectacular train station I ever seen. It is very well known for "The Dome of Lights", the largest glass work in the world.

The Dome of Light at Formosa Boulevard Station 美丽岛站

Taiwan is very famous for their night markets. Its like SG's pasar malam but just that they are permanent in the area. Liuhe night market is one of the most popular night market in Taiwan.

Exit 11 of Formosa Boulevard Station and on your left will be the long stretch of Liuhe night market.
