Christmas Wonderland @ Gardens By The Bay Festive 2015

Heard that this was the most christmasy place in Singapore so we decided to pay it a visit.

It was not as pretty at the outside but..

..It was so damn fairytale in the inside!

Be prepared to see lots of people photobomb your photo.

Carousel roundabout is my favourite ride in amusement park.

#SG50 NDP 2015

#SG50 NDP 2015

Year 2015 was a special year for Singapore as it has been independent for 50 big fat years already! As we did not manage to get the tickets (*sad), instead of watching the parade at home, we went down personally to celebrate the day with our fellow Singaporeans.

This post is very late but #latebetterthannoshow lol

We actually got quite a good spot for fireworks

Happy Birthday my homeland. Proud to be part of this big family =D

I am psyched to know I am one of the luckiest ones to get this year NDP 2016 preview tickets! *hehe

#StreetArtSG

Street Art by Artist Ernest Zacharevic and others in Singapore

I fell in love with street art ever since I seen them in Penang. I extremely admired the artist Ernest Zackarevic for his talent and his artistic imagination. I have read online that he usually stays in the city for a couple of weeks to observe the customs of the place before he starts on his artpiece on the wall.

In Singapore, most of his street art are done on the side walls of shophouses in Jalan Pisang and Jalan Klapa, facing Victoria Street.

...along Jalan Klapa, showing children wear angry bird tee shirts and play in supermarket carts, has a part of an actual trolley attached to it, with handles passers-by can grab on to and take picture with it.

Children somersaulting from boxes (I do not get it)

... continue walking along the pathway..

Then I turned into Arab street where there are interesting streetart done by others as well..

The above are all concentrated within the same area as I have circled in below map. Either walk up against the traffic from Bugis MRT or walk down along the traffic from Lavender MRT.

The other part of Singapore: at the intersection of Everitt Road and Joo Chiat Terrace

Alighting on Eunos MRT, walk along Still road towards Joo Chiat Terrace until the intersection of Joo Chiat Terrace and Everitt road. If you see a playground means you are very near to the art. Take a big look around, you definitely will not miss "Jousing Painters" as it is very prominently painted on the side wall of a terrace house.

Jousting Painters

I remember when I was young, I took household broom and "rode" on it under the pretense I was a witch

To the left of "Jousting Painters", there are 3 Minions painted on the bollards... Minions were popular that time lol

3 Minions Bollards

Are they bandits or the rubbish bins are really that smelly? hehe..

Share with me if there are other interesting streetart around Singapore!

#FoodHoppingSG - 1942 Alfresco @ Changi & War Museum

1942 Alfresco @ Changi    #ThePastBackToLife

I am always very psyched about going to a themed restaurant. The exterior of a restaurant definitely is a big point of attraction to earn my money. I came across this restaurant on facebook (someone reposted and appeared on my feed) and I am quite surprised that Singapore actually has such an interesting restaurant with history themed. I believe the owner of this restaurant survived the World War II.

This place is inaccessible without a car as it is located very deep in the Changi area opposite to Selarang Camp. It is situation next to Changi Airport where planes can be easily be heard or seen.

I googled the direction using its postal code 499550 but it led me to a wrong direction. We only managed to find the place by using "30 Cosford Road". Do not be another blur sotong like me.

The selling point is that this is only private war themed museum restaurant in Singapore and also seated in such a historically rich location where Changi was the site of Prisoner of war (POW) camp during World War II. Using this to the restaurant's advantage, it gives customers a chance to embrace the feeling of travelling back in time to the Japanese occupation period.

This is the interior of the restaurant. Do you see a man in blue top? I think he is the owner of this restaurant and he is super friendly. He told us to feel free to take down the weapons hanging on the wall, pose with them and take photo. He even took down one of the swords from the wall that he claimed it was one of the props in Lord of the Rings. #haolian

Wild mushroom soup (S$6) and pan-fried scallop pink snapper (S$22)

The prices do not justify for the quality. #nothingspecial
We continued to explore the alfresco area after our lunch.

Sandbags scattered around the alfresco dining area accompanied by machine gun, missiles and a very-simplified-version of missile launcher.

This is one of the rare chance we can enjoy playing with the restaurant's prop probably because nobody was there to judge us.

War museum next to the alfresco area.

I went in alone. There was a speaker playing the noises of the aircraft flying across, the sound of the bombs exploding and voices of the Japanese soldiers. These indeed gave me a chilling shiver down my spine.

Tons of World War II related items on displays, even the mannequin are wearing soldiers' uniform.

Storyboards standing at the very edge of the premises..

enlarge and read if you are interested...

I would say this place is suitable for people with cars or live nearby (ok probably not) and for history buff / enthusiasts. I hope more and more themed cafes or restaurants start appearing in Singapore ^.^
